Mr. Sal

FullSizeRender.jpeg

Born in Weirton, West Virginia, he began playing drums at the age of 12. Inspired by drummers such as Buddy Rich and Gene Crupa he joined the Weir High Marching Band in 1961 as they traveled to New York to participate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The next year the band was invited to the World Music Festival in Kirguard, Holland (now the Netherlands). The band won first place in this festival.

All along he mastered the art of playing snare drum and drum kit.

Since then he has been in bands such as Little Sal and the Princetons and the Five O'clock Rush.

He enjoys very much teaching & sharing the beautiful knowledge to students ages 4-adults, it's a pleasure seeing long term talented students grow here at The Music Key School, one of them starting at age 4 to currently age 8, another student starting at age 6 to currently age 10, still enjoying our lessons currently in 2025!

Born and raised in Southern California, he is an internationally acclaimed multi-genre record producer, recording artist, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, mixing engineer, mastering engineer, graphic designer, film editor, and music educator.
He plays drums, percussion, auxiliary percussion, guitar, bass, and is a classically trained pianist. Initially a natural born drummer and vocalist (most of which taught by his father, a professional multi-instrumentalist himself), he began playing piano and composing original music at age 5. Soon after, he began private lessons until the age of 14. With a deep yearning to apply his advanced theoretical knowledge of rhythm, composition, and extended harmony, he joined a top competitive level Jazz orchestra that fiercely competed to become 1st place champions at the world renowned annual Reno Jazz Festival in Nevada. Feeling accomplished as a seasoned Jazz musician, he searched to further expand his sonic adventures by quickly joining a Latin Jazz orchestra as well. However, due to his father’s music, he was no stranger to the world of Latin Jazz.

Through his songwriting studio sessions, he eventually met and collaborated with many different people, including the Black Eyed Peas. His music was eventually heard by top industry executives, A-list artists, and a handful of celebrities in the entertainment industry. This recognition catapulted his music which ultimately lead to multiple Top 100 hits on international radio including two back-to-back Top 40 hits on US radio, a Top 10 hit in South America, and multiple world tours around the globe.
Along this path, he enjoys very much teaching for many years & sharing his strong knowledge to ages 3-adults, including students on spectrum as well.
